Brand new to the forum.

Just buying a brand new TD4 Adventurer SW in Java Black, changing from believe it or not a Honda Civic Type R. Need a diesel with space that is comfortable and holds it value.

I would like some roof rails (not bars) and the OEM swept side steps in black, can anyone recommend the best place.

Seen both on e-bay, £138 for steps and £110 for rails but just wondered if there was any better, reliable cheaper places.

hello matey and welcome to the forum

I'm sure you are prepared for the power drop from the Type R!!!

I went from a 2 litre petrol to the TD4 about a month back and I nearly got out of the car on more than one occasion because I thought it had stopped!!:D :D . Seriously though, they do tend to 'loosen up' a bit and the knack of keeping the power in the turbo range gets easier.

I bought mine new two months ago and I got some serious savings by basically putting my requirements out to tender with half a dozen dealers and got them to get back to me with best prices - I ended up with a dealer in Surrey (PM me if you want more details / contact name etc.)

If you feel you can play 'hard-ball' with a dealer then it may be worthwhile trying to get some off the price of optional extras such as side steps or roof rail - they will tell you that they have no room to move on accessories, trust me, they have!!

Bear in mind that Land Rover will be bringing out the new Freelander soon, they will be wanting to shift as many of this model as possible and discounts / buying incentives are great just now.

Cheers

Do you think they will be cheaper than I have found on e-bay??

They work out at half the price so I think they are at rock bottom.

Sorry meant to mention, I don't think the type R is particularly fast unless you are wringing the neck out of it. Went from a 325i Sport to the type R and they are opposite ends of the car world in terms of drive.

I have a 130bhp TDCi 6sp Mondeo company car and that has lots of grunt, I do prefer diesels and found the Freelander to be what I expected, if anything it was very relaxing to drive. Anyway the Freelander will be the family car and used for long runs and winter as I am changing the Mondeo for a Saab 9-3 150bhp diesel cabriolet (bit of a pose).

Always liked the looks of the Freelander but was put off by a drive in my friends 52reg TD4, this just did not feel as smooth or as nice as to drive as the new/face lift one.

Thank you for the welcome:)

Anyone on the rails, bought the steps.

Phoned dealer and they where ridiculous, also tried a local breakers which are very proffessional only allow you to collect parts from a smart reception area after they have stripped the part, they want £75 used.

Anyone else on a good source??

Hi,
First post on here, as we just bought a TD4 yesterday. It's a basic S model, so over a period of time I'll be looking to add some roof bars, front bull bars, side steps and a set of alloys.
Spent a bit of time looking on ebay last night, and that looks about the cheapest place to go.

I'd be interested to know how easy they are to fit.

Cheers

Qwerty, I have had no replys but have found a good place, www.lrparts.net

I have just bought the swept bars and roof rails, mine has 17" alloys so I am fine there, but I have noticed that lrparts have a 5 piece set on offer.
