Hi all... i have a problem ..... my rear door locked today and wont open Window works fine and when you used the handle the window opens as it should but door lock stays shut..... have tried taking batt lead off and putting it back on but lock still shut... have tried praying hitting swearing .... but nothing ... could it be the CCU or is lock just broke... If broke how do we get door open... Have all trim off door... waiting for your suggestions

PS having read previous posts on this subject ... Already have a real Landy 90... This is my wifes car :D

I've had this problem. Here's what I did.

With the back window down, if you operate the handle you should here a double click from the direction of the drivers seat. Thats the release relay in the CCU. What happened on mine was the wire for the lock release solenoid had broken in the umbilical between the door and the door post. You got to get the door open first. Thats the tricky bit as there is, unbelievable, no mechanical release. Therefore, assuming your problem is the wiring and not the solenoid, lower the back window first. Get inside and access the wire loom in the back door. Identify the Purple/Blue wire heading across to the lock. Take two PP3 9v batterys and connect them in series (18V but it won't do any damage). Connect the negitive to the door frame. Run a wire from the 18v positive and touch it onto the conductor of the purple / blue wire. To access the wire you will need cut into the insulation to access the copper (which will need taping up again afterwards). If the lock solenoid is healthy the door should unlock as soon as you make the connection.

Now the door is open you can investigate where the problem is.

Good luck,

Dave

Thanks Dave,

Sounded like the problem however carried out the thing with the batteries and lock still wont budge I can hear the solenoid (rather sickly) trying to engage but lock not opening.... any ideas on getting the lock off from inside... thinking of trying to destroy the lock with a drill to get to the lock mechanism itself

How did you get the door open? Very useful information.

Glad to hear you are on top of the job now.

Good luck,

Dave

When I bought my FL1 and opened the rear door, I thought it was clever how the window lowered slightly before the door opened. Then I thought that it was overly complicated for a door and that it's just more to go wrong. It seems that I am right. I understand why it works that way, but surely they could have designed the car in such a way that it could have a normal rear door?
