I'll leave it as it is until it packs up again then just buy a new regulator/motor off ebay

DONT WAIT, BUY IT NOW, OR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I thought this with mine, kept putting it off and putting it off, then the poxy thing failed completely at the worst possible time, in the cold and snow, just as I was unloading my tools at a job. Because the glass had dropped, it meant the back was open, I then had to try and find a parking space where I could back up to the wall so it was reasonably secure.

If I'd have had the replacement, could have fixed it that night, but had to make a temporary running repair with 2 pieces of mini trunking to keep the glass up as high as I could. Water/snow still got in on the way home and soaked everything in the back.

Took me a few days to sort out a replacement, during which time, the back wasn't really that secure.

Buy it now !

Steve I didn't see any spring clips ??? were they inside the gear housing that the motor is connected to ? I didn't open it up fully - just in case everything popped apart :)

Optimus - great idea ! I'll keep a look out for a cheap, genuine Landy part on Ebay - no point waiting for it to go wrong then having to pay over the odds at the main dealer.

Is the rear wiper going to the proper park position after you've used it? It should come to a rest on the rubber strip below the window. If it doesn't the window won't operate properly.

Apologies if this has been covered before. I'm new to the Freelander scene, but familiar with the Rover family. So..moving on.

I have read plenty of forums and posts with regards to the Freelander tailgate issue and find myself with a similar problem. Here are the symptoms, checks, methods tried to no avail.

Currently Fuse 31 20A is out. (not blown but removed).
When the fuse is engaged I can lower the window. when it comes to rest it beeps 4 times. When I raise the window with the console switch or the key in the tailgate it goes all the way up and then comes back down to the starting position and beeps again.

I have had all the panels off, everything looks in its place. Cables attached to pulleys, runners on window riser ok. wiring looks good. Electric works to the rear. The tailgate switch works as does the key.

I have tried to recalibrate the window with the battery disconnect. If the window is up and i remove the neutral it engages and comes down. When I try to close the window, goes to the top, and straight back down, beeps 4 times.

Micro switch works fine on tailgate, added additional spring. so sturdier but no difference in operation.

As is stands, the window is up, outside the housing and fuse removed. Tailgate opens and locks fine.

To me it looks like the tailgate window is in reverse and when its up thinks its down and vice versa.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Fuse has never blown. Any more info required just shout.

Its a petrol 1.8L Freelander 3 door Year 2000.

Thanks in advance.

Just fixed mine using the advice at the grinning. Thanks guys.

Superdazdj - I assume you've fixed this now, but I guess definitely a calibration issue. I had to do mine twice. I think because when I went the top I let go of the switch too early.
