Hi All, I have Happily owned my Freelander TD4 2002 for 10 years now, and whilst there have been problems over the years they have mostly been sorted without to much trouble. While I was driving around a roundabout one evening the wheels seem to lose grip and the vehicle made a shuddering noise whilst trying to maintain grip. Soon after I noticed a horrible creaking/knocking noise when reversing around tight bends at slow speed. I took it to my usual LR repair guy and he informed me that the viscous coupling had gone and that he was surprised I'd managed to get it to 118k without replacement. Anyway 600 pound later I picked it up with a new VC
and bearings. There was still a little bit of creaking but it was a lot better. However 1 month later and it is just as bad as it was, I have returned and they have checked it and they reckon it's fine and usual for a freelander of its age. The noise is driving me nuts as it feels like it's causing more damage, all the diff mounts were changed 6 months earlier and the captive bolt on the subframe is also welded, it drives perfectly forward and backwards in straight lines, what should I check next? Cheers GKC
