You get to walk the course before driving it and there are 10 gates to go through. Each gate has a red and white flag, you have to keep the white flag on your RHS and are not allowed to touch a flag, reverse or cross your tracks. It sounds simple but many of the gates are not visible from the previous one so you need to remember which way to turn. Next time I'll bribe my daughter to come with me, she has been show jumping since she was 8 so she is great at memorising courses. :p

I used to think they looked rubbish, now I am sort of looking for one. But that one is way too expensive.
Yeh, $4K for a 300k kms car is quite steep - but not terrible value assuming everything's working as it should. I dug into its vin and its got the heated screen, heated seats, powerfold mirrors etc - and I know where there's a good drivers seat in that material - the 2.5 that Parnasus Garage are scrapping that you tried to get complete.
 
Nicely equipped though GG. Mileage isn't an issue, providing it's been looked after correctly.
It looks like it could have the heated front screen, and possibly CC. I wonder if it's had a replacement engine from a later vehicle too. It has the additional inlet air temperature sensor, fitted to the facelift TD4.
Don't know about the TD4 so can't say about the engine. I think I saw CC on the VIN sheet.

At that mileage, getting a replacement engine might be difficult/expensive here - and the auto box might be a lot harder than that. Lots of KV6s being scrapped but I believe there's a lot of differences between the boxes.

Agree, a TD4 manual would be my ultimate choice.
 
Often on the VIN sheets I check it will say whether it has the SE or HSE decals etc. It didn't say anything like that on this one - maybe because it was for the NZ market, but it said "Marketing Packs - 3 Door XEI Market Pack 3 [136AN];". I thought the Xei branding went out with the MY01 cars.


It does have CC.

It does have CC.

My current V6 Auto is MY01 and it is XEI.

I dunno. I was the same, but I swing both ways now cos I recon an auto would be better offroad.

I tried to get the Mrs to agree that we could swap the Starlet for that and it could be the 4WD truck - she wasn't having any of it though.

Why so?

The auto is better off road and when towing heavy trailers. It also isn't subject to expensive clutch changes every 70 to 80 K miles!
For me, it's auto all the way.

I prefer driving manuals. I like the interaction with the machine etc.
