Forgot to ask but the turbo pressure gauge arrived yesterday. Any idea where the best place is to connect into the vac hoses?

it doesnt go on the vac hoses. it needs a manifold feed, i got an egr delete with an output on it for one

That goes to the vac unit so still no pressure feed to it. On my L I drilled and tapped into the manifold for a hosetail

I was thinking I could have closed the connection on the vac unit and tapped into the EGR for my boost gauge. I'll see if I can tap into the manifold, if not will get a new EGR blank with a tap like Nodge did.

Yeah I've seen that, but I linked a joiner with a boost take off not an egr. On later td4's there's a joiner pipe with boost sensor to the right of the dipstick after the intercooler, that's what I was suggesting replicating.

Of course if you want to re-enable the crimped vac connection on your egr then that's different.

Sorry mate, I missread your post, didn't look properly at the link you posted and thought you were asking what I used. Oops!
Mine is an 02 so don't think I have the joiner pipe you mentioned and don't think I can reopen the pipe I crimped so I appreciate your suggestion, it would save me over twenty quid. :)

You don't have the boost air temperature sensor Ali. That arrived around 2004 iirc. Mine has it though, for whatever use it is.

I thought you were still playing with yours.

In the garage. :p

Unfortunately I have to go back to the real world and earn the money for a month so a bit far from the hippo right now, although the missus is itching to drive it but the clutch hydraulics need sorting first and the head gasket.

Would that be cruising around in a fancy boat in warm climes? It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it. :p

I just ordered one of these so hopefully will have the turbo boost gauge up and running next week. I'll just cut the intercooler hose and stick this inbetween. I'm buying this gauge as I intend to try and increase the power sometime soon so want to have a benchmark

.
Like I said before I've no idea what I'm doing so just making it up as I go along, discovering my mistakes, putting them right (mostly) and having fun on the way. :D

Hope it's right!

I'm learning too, looking at doing the intake tube mod so my watchlist is full of bits of tube and silicone hoses, just need to work out how they go together...

Now I'm thinking of a boost gauge too, always good to see what yer engines doing.

Ali, you can take the boost from the MAP sensor feed with a simple tee.
Also, if needed, I have a small OLED display boost gauge project that fits in the original clock housing - also shows clock, date, day . year - boost analogue gauge or boost digital gauge. - this one (the project one - simply taps into the DC output of the MAP.
A normal type pressure / vac gauge can simply go in the MAP sense hose.
If you want details of the digital unit (with clock / date / time / analogue and digital) boost gauge then let me know. ?
I can do a write up.
It will fit in the display part of the original centre dash clock.

I've already ordered the parts so will go with the vac gauge and see how it goes.
