Hi All!

I'm mulling over the best option for a new toy: Disco or Freelander?!

I am looking for something that isn't going to see much off road use but will do some towing. Mainly a caravan (and a smallish one at that) so I know either will do the job.
The but, is also to tow a boat. Again quite light so towing itself isn't an issue but I want to use it on slipways for getting it in, and more importantly out, without getting the vehicle wet preferably nor making an arse of myself.

I have £2000 to £2500 to spend but the big issue is the running costs (fuel MPG) especially as it's also going to be used around town on a daily basis (not towing).

To make this a wee bitty harder, I have the chance of a very tidy 1999 Disco TD5 which has been looked after and has had a lot of new bits replaced, for less than £2500.

What to do?

Depends what tha wants it for :) :welcome2:

Cheers.

Muchly in the first post:

Most of the time it's gonna be bumbling around town doing car things, hence the trade off between MPG etc. against occasional dragging up a slipway.

Towing (tbh i wunt wi mi FL)
Doing car stuff yep

Discos are ace off road specially if you chop em back n front and put big wheels on.

Thanks.

Is a FL up to the job of dragging a wee boat n' trailer up slipways??

(no chopping of stuff here I'm afraid :( )

Thanks.

I refer you to reply 5 sir.

Im afraid the doors will indeed fall off if you even submerge the slightest bit of a gaylander in water. Get the disco, the doors will stay on but the boot floor might not stay in!

That said if your a hairdresser and a dedicated follower of fashion get the freelander anyway, it will compliment your dress and make your back side look petit! :D
