had a good look at the sub frame seems ok. also took it 4 long run, felt the diff it was warm but not hot enough to cook an egg on so thats my t out of the window
do the tipex white line test next. . . .ta proove thet vcu is not binding. . . .:)

how do u do that then
well yer put er tipex white line ont both diffs each side er vcu. . . .take yer gaylander fer r reet good spin [best use er golf club un spin the wheels] un ave er look un the line should be apart . . . .if not test agin . . .if they never part then vcu is fooked . . .un loadin up rear bit, gear box un the middle bit. . . .:)

I recently had the same problem, and LR traced the source to a worn main bearing in the driveshaft. Not sure what they ment, but it was either the bearing in the VCU or the two support bearings on the driveshaft. Either way its related to the driveshaft

passed the tipex test.took it 2 the local bupa, they said it was fooked wheel bearing, so after quick surgery no more noisey rear

they charged £160,included gen parts and labour.they said the old 1 had been replaced but been knocked in with hammer so fooked from the start.so hopefuly troble free motering 4 2 more years fingers crossed
