Hi all. I recently bought a 1.8 petrol freelander. After many issues surrounding the "knocking sound" from the rear diff, ie: replacing the 3 rear diff mounts, carrier bearings and then the option of purchasing the front part of the prop as the gator was torn, I decided to remove the rear prop and run it in Mondo Mode. (front wheel drive only).
HOWEVER
When I removed the rear prop, I discovered that I have no drive at all to the two front wheels. The flange for the rear prop spins like crazy but no drive to the front wheels.
I jacked up the font of the vehicle and ran the motor in gear. The CV arms to the front wheels do not turn. If I manually turn the front wheels the cv arms do turn.
Is this a ruined IRD (Transfer box)? if so is it repairable as a new one is ridiculously expensive here in South Africa.
Ant suggestions would be welcome.
