I have a 2004 Freelander 1. The cable that releases the back seat so it can fold down has come adrift with the seat in the upright position. Anybody know how I can get to the mechanism so I can re-attach it?

Although this has never happened on my freelander, it did on a Ford I used to have.
I removed the catch on the rear of the seat and used a coat hanger to grab the cable. The problem was the plastic on the rear of the catch had snapped an the cable had dropped off. Drilled a new hole in the catch and put a bit of metal in to hold the cable.

Hi Mike, thanks for taking the time to reply.
I should have been more specific - the cable has come off at the latch end, so I have the cable and the release handle but no way to get the seat down so I can get to the latch.
