Hi all,
Got a slight problem with my Freelander.
Went out in it this morning and everything was fine.
Then i went out again at lunchtime and it has developed a missfire and lost almost all of its power.
The vehicle has not been serviced for a long time and i was thinking that it may be in need of some new spark plugs.. Now i,m beginning to suspect the coil packs.(Two of them).
PLEASE ADVISE..HELP..:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:

Hi there,

Could be if they are cracked slightly. My bro has same issue with his Porsche 996 and two coil packs had slight crack! Miss fire and warning lights! Changed them and was totally new car. We new this as we plugged it into a Code reader/scanner.

The coil packs are a weak link and they tend to fail when hot
you can't always see anything on the surface.
My petrol developed a missfire and a blinking engine management light due to a duff coil after fitting a new pair (just to be on the safe side) shes as good as new

Do petrol versions have the fuel pump in the rear wheel arch? That gives intermittent surges when its on the way out....

I,ve just bought two new coil packs and am waiting for the second one to arrive tomorrow. They only had one on the shelf.
I do hope this cures the problem as they were £70.
Thanks for all the helpfull replies.

When we bought the car it had an engine management light on. That was in March but it ran fine so we put it down to the fact that it has not been serviced for a long time.:confused:

Engine management light has been on since we bought the car in March this year. It ran fine right up till now. We put it down to a poor service plan...Has not had a service for a long time.:confused:
