Hi, we have a 2000 freelander td4, passed MOT no probs but recently it has started to misfire at around 1000 revs- 30mphs.
Underneath the master cylinder at the back of the airfilter there seems to be a pipe with no hose on it !!!!

any ideas whether this should have a hose or what could be causing it to misfire
thanks:)

The pipe is a breather pipe from the (IRD i think)
There is also a filter there with no pipe on

Try disconnecting the block connector to the MAF sensor very close to the piping at the top These are a common problem but can be fixed easily by fitting a Roverron

HI, thanks for that, sorry to be a pain but where is the MAF sensor and what is a roverron?
Weve only ever had escorts in the past so this is all new to us.
thanks
Wendy

this sounds similar to a problem i have just had, engine reluctant to rev tickover very wobbley, but runs ok when up to speed,

get some injector cleaner, cost aroung £15, i used stp diesel injector cleaner from halfords, it took a 2nd full tank of diesel before itwas cured ,

even if you find its the air flow device,(maf) i would recomend giving the engine some injector cleaner, my td4 has never run so well, money well spent
good luck

thanks,
we used the injector cleaner but still happening, any idea if we can test whether it is the MAF sensor before buying one as they seem expensive?
thanks:)

Just unplug it, If it runs better then its the maf, Buying a roveron £56 will bypass the maf

I fitted one to mine and it runs much better
