I’d rather have a well looked after vehicle with plenty of motorway miles on it, than something that has been sat in rush hour traffic, 2hrs a day, stop-starting and only clocking 10 or 20 miles a time. I’m sure the daily wear must be greater, although it does not show up in total miles. At £800, if the rest of the vehicle is good condition I’d be tempted to take a punt knowing that some ancillary stuff will need changing. (But even on a lower mileage one, it would probably need updating anyway due to age). And as others have said, the TD4 could be good for over 300k, - by which time all us ‘dirty diesel bastids’ will have been taxed off the roads. - but that’s another conversation - if they are in no rush to sell, might be worth waiting until after the budget announcements this week, which could give you some more leverage in the price you pay...
