Freelander Light Bar for Roof

Hey All :whoosh:
Still doing some mods for my Freelander, and at the moment trying to track down one of these light bars ( see attached pic ) mounts on the roof, and you can attach spot lights to it

Searched flebay, can't seem to find one, trailed the net, no luck. Read various forum posts on here, that most people seem to fit these types of spot lights, to expedition racks etc, but I like the idea of a single light bar like the one pictured, that you can just attach. :bump2:

Companies seem to make these bars for disco's, defenders etc, but not for the freebie! Anyone got any ideas of where they've seen one? Or if they have one that they don't want... any help as always, would be much appreciated.

Thanks again - your all wonderful as always :high5:

that looks like a home made one the ones that they used to sell go under the roof bars ,you take the bolts out and then put the bar in and bolts back in.

Hey Teddy
Yeah i thought as much! I like the design though! - 2 Questions for you -
1) Have you seen anything like this which would hold some spot lights?
2) I need one of your CB Aerial mounts in black shortly :)

Hey TD4
This ( attached pic ) from that post, is exactly the type i'm after..........
Exactly like this....
It's just a case of where to get one!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!
( The prototype in blue the other chaps done, is interesting, but sits a little high, and stands out being in silver )
The one on the red freebie, sits lower, and i think suits the truck v.well!

I think if there is going to be a light bar on the roof, it needs to look like it's always been there, the black metal suits it, and it's hidden well behind whatever lights you'd put up there. I suppose you can always angle your lights to wherever you need them!

Just a case of where to pick one up I suppose!!

The one on the red freebie, sits lower, and i think is very smart!!

Yup it's knocked up outta some scrap and a light bar relived from the front of a sj that was home made in the first place! I am currently revamping it and intending to change to round lamps.

The rectangular lamps were sitting too far forward and the beam pattern was throwing loads of stray light down into the windscreen and reflecting off the dash.

I have shortened the side sections to bring it back and I am re shaping the side plates. I am also going to use thicker plates that are tapped out instead of using seperate nuts and bolts.

I will post some more pictures when I have got further along with the mods.

Thanks for the post above. That's really interesting! Great job though so far! From what I've read on the forums, it looks like alot of people who have got a light bar like this, have made it themselves
It does look really good what you've done, so it's given me some good ideas! Yeah please do, post up some pics when it's all done, would be really good to see!

That's one of the main things i'm toying with at the moment!
Wether to put rectangular spots ( like yours ) onto the frame.... ( this kind below )

6 Light Roof bar Spot Lamps/Guards Defender/Discovery | eBay

Or wether to keep them to circular ones!
I'm putting on a bull bar at the moment, and they come with circular Safari 3000' Lights! ( I'll attach a pic at the bottom )

Only thing I'm thinking, is would it look strange to have circular Safari lights on the bull bar, and then rectangular lights on the light frame at the top? Would it look strange as a mixture of circular and rectangle?

Or if they are all Safari style circular lights - would it look like ALOT going on at the front! ( as the rectangular ones do tend to look like they ''blend in'' in a little more ) ....

Difficult one........

Ses88 is looking at making g4 style bars so that is another option. I like the rectangular light shape but as I said they give out waste light. The two reasons I am changing to round is for a better beam pattern an also cuz the missus doesn't like the rectangular ones! I prefer it when she has one less thing to moan about!

I also think that now I have my bar on the front with the round spots and the sort of round fogs in the bumper that it needs round on the roof.

Yeah I've got the drawing almost done for the G4 reps, just need to add some detail to them!
