When I did my front struts I found the strut race had collapsed so had to spend more getting those parts as wellI'll give that a try at an opportune moment, although I suspect a front strut for that one.

The diff was "thumping" on a heavy gear change (mine's an auto). That has gone now but the knock I describe above definitely feels like a suspension or subframe issue. Like some of the posts above, it occurs on patches of road with the surface course missing, pot holes etc, but also when coming off speed cushions/humps.
Despite much of the plate being gone on the driver's side, the cradle looks structurally sound. I'll be having a proper poke around though one eve this week so it'll get double checked.Fuel tank cradle disintegrated???

Its them gas guzzling rust buckets dragging the marque down. Freelanders aren't to bad and definitely best of the old "Premier Automotive Group" bunch...

Not too far behind then lol. Shall see how it goes, I'm beginning to miss my CRV !
Ooops sorry bad language.
150000 miles, only changed liquids, pads etc. Probably coz when you poured in oil it stayed in the engine lol.
Seriously good little motor, never pretended to be master of off roading but was actually not bad with Bullitt proof simple 4x4 system.
In my experience, the Honda 4X4 system is so bad, it's actually pointless carrying it's additional weight about.
This vid from a Swedish magazine pretty much sums up what I mean.
Without looking I've seen that, not true to life in my humble opinion, I bought one a few years ago on flea bay for peanuts, loved the zingey twin cam, smoked it around for 18 months didn't put a spanner on it. Sold it 4 years ago for peanuts, looked on the gov check mot site, its still going.
My brother drives one in the Dominican republic, 200000 miles still going.
