hi everyone I’ve got a freelander 2.0 diesel and it just cut out and now won’t start at all any ideas on what it could be

Everything works it has diesel the ignition switch is working correctly it has oil on dipstick

Does it turn over? Lights on the dash?

It turns over as it should and there is lights on the dash but no warning/fault lights

This is why I think it should be a rule, that under your name you should have to state what year your FL is also if 1or 2 and what engine.

Check the fuel pump in the rear wheel arch liner is working ok, unplug the fuel rail wiring and spray with contact cleaner then try it again, could be the HPFP O-rings

Could be a blocked crank filter its easy to check. When was the last time all filters and oil were changed?

So it's the BMW M47R engine then.
Cutting out and failing to restart could be a few things.
So you need to check the low pressure fuel pump is running. You can hear them running from under the RH rear arch. No pump noise could be the impact sensor tripped or an electrical supply issue to the pump.
The rail sensor and harnes can suffer from bad corrosion, so check that and report back your findings.
