I have a 2002 Freelander TD4, the interior light works but only when I uses the buttons to turn it on and off. Does anyone know why the interior light doesn't come on when I open the door or is it even possible??

interior light works on door switch when the switch on the light is set in the middle you could have a broken switch in the door shut or it could be just sticky try working it in and out a few times:) :)

is possible!!:) .......check yer door switch while door is open.......just ang to door 'case it falls orf........:D......................

Success!! It turns out it was an ECU that was causing the issue. Once it was replaced and encoded, the light worked. The problem also affected the central locking, once the ECU was replaced it was lights on nad doors locking!!! ;)

What a stupidly expensive way of making the interior lights work !!!!!!!. I hope it was under warranty.
