Hi Guys, help needed.
Is there anyway of testing the fan control unit on a 2.5v6 Freelander 51 plate? Fans are on all the time, hoping its this rather than temperature sender as that looks like a nightmare to get to. Any advice would be welcomed cheers

You will need to shift this to a freelander forum.
Or await laughs and ridicule in this forum.
Unless you want to join us next June?

The fan control unit can't be tested but don't generally go wrong. Check of corrosion on the large multi plug. The thin wire (I can't remember the colours) is where the ECU tells the fan unit to run. If the wire is open, the fans run at maximum speed.
Otherwise you need to check the coolant sensor for corrosion or breaks in the wiring. If the engine ECU doesn't see a signal from the temperature sensor, the fans run at maximum speed. If the AC is on, the fans run slowly.
