Carried out the tippex test today on the advice of some of you helpful chaps!!! After thrashing around on the wet grass for a while the marks had come out of alignment, then on driving home, i checked the temperature of the VCU and it was stone cold, the one thing i did notice was that on the wet grass, while trying to spin the wheels,was that the back wheels spin far more readily than the front, is this normal:confused: any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!
 
Ideally you want to do the tippex test on a roadtest, not on grass, as the wheel spin prevents the wind up that should cause the VCU to slip.

...but driving around anywhere is adequate and the fact the marks have moved is reassuring.

does your freelander have traction-control? and is it working properly?
Yeah mate it does have it but im also going through a 3 amigos stage!!! Which my non landrover mechanic also cant get to the bottom of!!!! He has replaced a rear abs sensor which showed up on a diag test and cleared the codes bue the lights wont extinguish
