Made my decision, either 190 hp HSE Freelander or the 245 hp GS Disco.

We have plumped for the all singing/dancing HSE Freelander against the basic GS Disco.

I think the main reason was the fuel consumption figures, and availability. Around 10 mpg to the gallon more - allegedly for the HSE, and the Disco was only available around Xmas time, where by the HSE was in stock.

Hope we have made the right decision. Time will tell.

There's a lot to like about the idea of a brand new Disco, cooking version or otherwise, especially if you really need the 7 seats, a 3.5 tonne towing capacity and huge off road capability.

But the Freelander has plenty of room for 4 or 5, 80% of the off road capability, weighs about 800 kg less, is much less bulky and is going to cost a whole load less to run; forgetting about the diesel costs for a minute, have you seen what the annual RFL would have been on the Disco? £790 in year 1, followed by £445 thereafter with further annual rises inevitable

Unless you really needed the Disco, you've made the right choice. Hope you enjoy it. I'm enjoying mine and I wouldn't swap now.

I've now had my SD4 for four months and can actually do more than I originally expected and loving it - still huge grin
