A mate of mine has a Disco and he managed to sus out a way of installing cruise control using the actual wiring in the steering wheel column and an add on switch all for about a 100 quid. Does anyone know if the Freelander is equipped to take cruise control by default and if so any ideas where I can buy the bits?

Cheers

I dont know if I would do this if I were you. Cruise in the Freebie kind of stinks. It hunts like crazy.... I dont even use mine. I've half a mind to pull mine out and ship it to you!

And I find it one of the best things you can have when on the motorway ? But then again mine is mounted on a Td4 (see MHM's remark about swopping KV6 to a Td4:D :D :D :D )

Mine is a TD4 (wouldn't have touched any other). This guy I know got the switch and extra paddle for steering wheel, and then paid a guy to fit it for him and enable it, all in cost him £100. I searched the forum and did find the other post above but that was the only one I did find on the subject, if anyone else knows the whereabouts of another post I'd appreciate it.

I really would like to do this as I plan keeping this car a good while and I do do frequent M trips.

Thanks
Dave

well, i've always wondered about homemade cruse control since i found out my 2002 astra van had a fly by wire throttle. thoughts of a household dimmer switch and latching realy attached to the break light switch to act as a saftey comes to mind.
it would work, but could be alittle crude, but a trip to B+Q and maplins could do the job for about 20 notes.
