Just didn't want some poor peep getting his/her hopes up thinking it was only an £80 fix for something that hasn't been positively diagnosed yet. The leak could be from anywhere.

i agree, but perhaps if you'd posted before post 38 your comments wouldn't have sounded so judgmental

In this case i've already judged and if i sounded judgmental it's because i was i'm sorry. I'm glad N.I. got in quickly enough to advise against the use of K-Seal or radweld on a K series.

Well the fantastic news is that the coolant loss was caused by a perished inlet manifold gasket. Gasket and seals replaced, new expansion tank and cap fitted and it's sorted. It's driving really nicely, smooth, quiet, and seems to be a bit more power.

Strangely I bought the expansion tank on the internet from Britparts. I was advertised as a genuine LR part, fitted perfectly, but the new LR expansion tank cap I bought didn't fit, need a cap from a Vauxhall Astra!

Anyway ZZ is now a happy boy!

With me it was pin holes in the heater inlet pipe to the heater matrix. Fixed 3 years ago with K seal. Never leaked since.
