Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and I'd like to show you my little Freelander Camping Car project. I spent a few weeks modifying it so I'd be able to camp in the back when I'm travelling around Europe. I've spent around a month sleeping in the back, it's surprisingly comfortable!

In addition to the pictures I've added:

  • Internal electronic door release button (Little red button you can see on the back door).
  • 12v to 5v USB for my GoPro wired in from the sunshade light conection.
  • Insulation in the rear panels for increased warmth and to cut down on road noise.
  • All internal lighting bulbs replaced with LED's

Bed base with storage underneath:

Limo tint on the back windows (I have insulated sunshades in the front for privacy when camping):

I'd love to know what you think and maybe get some suggestions for further modifications.

Cheers,
Andy

That looks like a pretty functional vehicle, and achieved at a moderate cost, I should think!

Well done, good inventiveness! :)

hi guys,

iv got myself a Freelander 1 and after my campervan has died im now going to make my Freelander my new home.

im currently in Spain so i cant just walk up to my car in UK (at parents)

does anyone have the internal dimensions for a 3 door freelander 1?

also would like to know if anyone knows how to wire a button to the rear door so i can open it from inside?

any and all help will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Dot

That'd great I have considered making mine into one but something that could be taken out and fits over seats when folded .
And possibly a cooker that folds flat on inside of rear door .
that boot trim removed would give enough space its ridiculously wide.
Your missing a flip down roof mounted DVD
