Hi, Started takin glow plugs out of V plate freelander 2.0 di but one has broken leaving the outer casing in the head. Any ideas.

Can i tap a left hand thread into it and undo with a bolt?
Anyone had this problem b4?

Thanks..

You can try with a left hand thread or with a large Torx Bit but be careful not to drill to deep. Anything dropping into the engine will cause a breakdown. If nothing helps or you think something has been falling inside the engine..............off comes the head.

Gonna give it a try when the weather improves a little.

Any idea what the heads like to take off? Major headache or not too bad? :frusty:

I wouldn't bother. It costs about £50-£80 to get it done properly. If its snapped trying to undo it already then it won't come out by drilling and tapping it. Have a look on you tube at snapped glow plugs.
I tried on my wife's scenic dci. Drilled out the whole threaded part, but I could not extract the glow plug tip, it was coked up!! In the end I left it as it was December 2011. It fell into the engine in march 2012. I had to do full head and new piston!! I wish I had paid the money.
