Hello all! I have just given in to the wife and got her a '98 freelander 1.8. The problem I have with it is it feels like a boat! The whole lot seems like it's bobbing around, and the body rolling about. It's worse when your up to motorway speeds and changing lanes is abit of a challenge, the wife described it as the wheels when one way on there own and the body the other!
I had similar on a escort years ago and it was the bottom arms. Sound like this again?? Cheers!

Having never driven a boat on a motorway I can`t really give you any advice on this!

There could be several reasons for this.

Things that come to mind are -

Tyre condition
Tyre pressures,
Suspension bushes
Lower ball joints
Tracking (Front and back)
Anti roll bar bushes
Drop links
Track rod ends
Shock absorbers

No easy answer I'm afraid, you'll have to check it out or get it to the garage for a check.

Sounds a bit like track rod ends - I had similar on a car I had and to be honest it was frightening and pretty dangerous at speed.

Get is checked out asap.

The track rods were replaced about 500 mile ago, the tyre pressure is fine and the tyres look ok. The shocks seem ok with no excess bouncing or dipping when I brake. That's why I'm thinking bottom arms.
