Hi, came across your site while surfing for a price for regassing my Freelander. It's a 51 plate 1.8 petrol and I've owned it about 3 years. I do not know if the a/c has been serviced during annual services but anyway it has given up the ghost totally. Much as I may need it during this spell of hot weather, I really need it for the coming wet weather cos the rain just causes the inside to steam up and the a/c is on more in the winter months than the summer. Anyway can anyone hazard a guesstimate on regassing and (I hate to say this) if that doesn't work I read in the forum somewhere it could mean a new unit. Advice always welcome...Thanks Rock
 
Got mine regassed locally for £50 last summer - been great since. I think twix £50 and £80 is the norm im my neck of the woods.
 
mine didnt work at all, So I got one of the castrol ezfill kits, £30 off ebay :rolleyes:

now it works but only if i dont drive at speed of 40mph +:rolleyes:

suppose it proved the the AC needs gassing "Properly":D
 
I wish LR GUY was around as i wanted to ask if he had ever come across a job of replacing the trinary switch on 2002 freebi,part number jue000701(superceeded by jue000640)its this pipe that simply as a switch that screws in it (most cars cost £25ish)L/R say dont want to sell ya just a switch but the pipe it gos in aswell :mad: ,so a bit of poxy pipe and switch £200 ish,my question to L/R guy would be--have you ever used a substitute switch(ie-off a rover etc)that can do the job.
 
I used the castrol easy fill followed the rules , then thought sod it took it to the danger mark, now i get chill blanes if i have it on max, had ta de frost ma dog [porky] last week . . .:D
 
Thanks for the info. I will talk to the guy who does the work for my MOT's and see if he can regas the A/C for me. Does anyone else have a problem with condensation during wet weather. This is not a little, every window inside the car is soaked and it takes the a/c to get front windscreen demisted enough to drive. I had the rear door seal replaced under warranty and it helped for a while, but the seal is still intact and the problem has reappeared. Suggestions please...

Hi rock!

Might be worth checking under yer carpets,
when first got mine i took the rear one out,(boot one) cos it was soaking in the cubby box,dried it out,no more steamy windows.
If you got water standing under your carpets you might not feel it throu the material,cos they have a plastic backing ,and once your carpets are out you might see where the leak is comming from
just a suggestion! good luck
 
Tried that. The cubby hole full of water was what led to getting the door seal getting replaced. As soon as the windows began steaming up again I checked the cubby hole and carpets but no evidence of water. Also checked the memory banks and decided that it was 100% not passion related..Rock

It dont loose water slowly dose it?
thinking pinhole in the heater matrix?????:confused:
 
if not as the Mondo say's ,never had this problem myself ,but remember old threads on this and one guy had had water ingress from his rear end cubbie box [not a joke] his cure ta stop this was ta drill a small drain hole in the box , might be worth checking. . . :)
 
Does it seem to steam up more on the passenger side? If so check that the air vent in the boot (N/S) is not blocked by a bit of sound deadening or anything alse in the boot.
 
The cooling system has never needed topping up as far as I'm aware. But I will check it out. Also will have a look to see if I can locate the rear vent and check it too. Its not so easy trying to pin down a fault at a time of year when it doesn't happen, but all the info will come in handy when I can't see out of the car.. Thanks again for all the advice...Rock

I think it was a hole in the top of the box to allow condensation to vent. If you drill a drain hole in the bottom, water gets in when you go wading...

You need to differentiate between condensation in the cubby and water in the cubby. As mine gets a couple of inches in it, we can put it down to more than condensation. A couple of quick fixes haven't sorted it so the modified seal is on the shopping list.

Back to the subject, I just had t'other Freebie's aircon redone. Lost all pressure due to a leak. We try to avoid using aircon too much (think of the fluffy bunnies) but it is nice to have it back!

Could always move down to the lower regions of the country to find some drier weather like Mondo suggests, but if I did that the a/c would be on all the more and Blippie wouldn't be happy at us jocks killing off loads of southern bunnies

Cheers Mondo that just about sums the place up. Either that or its coz were all half dead and zombiefied. Saying that the suns been oot here more in the past five weeks than the past five years
