No NO NO

there are 2 3mm allen screws which have to be undone, one on each side, then the unit will slide out

(this is only true of original head units, if it's been changed then could be anything)

do not try removal tools or coat hangers, it doesn't work in that way.

Sorry if my response lacks the required finesse or grammar, the answer is there, the style isn't

For a minute there OP, I thought I was watching Jim Trott from the Vicar of Dibley - no no no no no no no!

As for the U-shaped wire, this is the best tool of choice for the R660 which was the most common head unit fitted by LR (and Rover) up until 2002

Another one thread wonder that we'll probably never see again.

Pity people don't know what the search function means.

There are VERY few if any new issues with hippos and a wealth of info in the knowledge database that people should search FIRST instead of plowing in with questions that have been answered time and time again.

It's quite easy really.

Here Bullie, in fairness, he/she did introduce themselves, they did say

'Thanks
Les'

What more intros do we need;)

The search engine on here is painful.
Its easier to google which then brings you back here to the relevant pages.

If everything has already been said then whats the point of new threads and new posts.

Do we just resurrect the existing over and over.

We should welcome anybody brave enough to take on a Freelander.

Ah, so folk are to type the resolutions out time and time again just 'cause some irk is to lazy to perform a search ?

The point of new threads and posts are to discuss/resolve issues that cannot be easily fixed. (and to remind tratter boys to keep their welding equipment handy, of course)

If they are using smart phones and tablets to log in then the search facility doesn't even work.
Now it's hardly fair to having a pop at noobs for not doing something the site server doesn't even allow. ;)

It has come a long way and most V.Bulletin forums use the same format especially in advanced settings

I always feel best to throw in the additional nugget of info into existing threads, keeps it collectively together!

True, we have the tratter boys to contend with.

:confused::confused: works fine for me on iPhone and an iPad. I searched for "search" and just found a load of posts by EBT... :flame:

(And if it didn't work then it'd be a client issue, not server ;))

Bloody 'ell.... being all nicey nicey to a newbie... you're all getting soft ;)

Besides all MP's (police and politicians) should be used to abuse and EBT was quite tame considering how some newbie questions have been responded to on LZ in the past :D
