TJS-Freelander

Hi all!
Finally got my rear diff issue sorted! Obviously not a cheap job but it is now sorted! On the way back from getting the new rear diff fitted, as I went to go into 3rd, my freelander 2 wouldn’t go into gear. I pulled over and managed to push it into 1st bit nothing else. The AA came out and did manage to pump the clutch, get it to move gears, and into a local car park. He suggested it may be the master cylinder at fault but after a phone call to a friend who is a car mechanic he thinks it could be a full clutch and flywheel fault. Any suggestions what this could be? The AA driver said it isn’t the clutch because he managed to change gears whilst driving. Many thanks!

need to do a few things to see, will it select gears ok with the engine off? when you did manage a gear was it driving ok? have you checked fluid levels? when you pump the clutch does it then select a gear? was there an issues before the rear diff getting sorted?

It will go into gear with the engine off but not easily. To get it to change gear I have to pump the clutch a few times and almost force it into gear. Fluid levels appear to be ok, before the diff got sorted I did notice a few times that the clutch pedal would stick a few mm below where it should return to but usually once my foot was completely off it would pop back up. The clutch pedal has never stuck fully down like I’ve seen some people saying
