Thanks for your reply.

I will take some pictures over the next few days and post on here.

Have you checked the little fuse in the tow module?

Out of interest, where are you mounting it.
It goes on it's own bracket behind the LH rear panel.

Hi
Yes changed the fuse with a new 15A.

I plugged the trailer board in this afternoon and tried all functions aren’t working. Not even the brake lights.

That's interesting. The brake lights are a pass through connection.

If nothing is working, then you'll need to probe at the tow module plugs too see what you're getting.
Here's the wiring diagram.

I thought towbar electrics needed to be enabled via diagnostics, years ago mine did anyway
Not for lighting or trailer power. Those are plug n play, as I proved just 2 weeks ago.

Activation simply tells the vehicle to expect a trailer, and to implement the towing strategy when it's connected.
The towing strategy includes trailer sway reduction, via the vehicle stability control system.
It also turns off the vehicle rear fog lights, reducing red glare through the rear window, while keeping the trailer fogs functional, and also turns off the rear PDC, so it can't detect the trailer, the front PDC remains working though.

All lighting works when the tow module is plugged in, as the CAN data is sent regardless of being activated or not, and the brake lights are pass through anyway, as a safety feature.

I checked the connections in the car tonight.
Grey connector coming from car loom gave the following readings.

with ignition off
Black & Brown (assuming earth) - 0
Red - (brake ? Had nobody home to press pedal -0
Red #2 - 12.71
Grey & Orange - 10.62
Purple & Pink - 10.62
Blue. &Black - 12.71
Yellow - 12.58

with ignition on
Black & Brown - 0
Red - 0
Red #2 - 12.35
Grey & Orange - 9.33
Purple & Pink - 10.10
Blue & Black - 12.35
Yellow - 0

with left hand indictor on - Red #2 - flicking 12.35 to 12.39
With right hand indicator on - Blue & Black - flicking 12.28 to 12.32

Check towing connections on tow bar and no readings.

I have a spare aftermarket 7 pin socket from a previous kit, I am thinking of changing this.

failing that maybe just investing in a new wiring loom and aftermarket towing module from PF Jones.

In between the constant showers i have managed to wire in a new 7 pin plug. On checking with the engine off all the ports are giving the reading 05.5, i am right in thinking that 12v should be coming through ?

Could this be the towing module that is the issue ?

You should see 12 Volts on any connection that is feeding power to a light circuit, which is all of them at certain times, but only while the ignition is on, except for hazard lights, which work with the ignition off.
If nothing works with the ignition on, then you need to test that power is actually getting to the tow module. The wire colours are on the diagram I posted. ;)

If you have power going into the module, and the CAN is active, then it's likely the module is damaged, in which case you need to be requesting a replacement from whoever sent you the harness.

Hi
Update on problem.

Tow bar module and wiring loom to sockets were faulty.

purchased new after market module and loom, plug and play. All worked straight away.

will book in for other features to be programmed.

Thanks for help and guidance, it’s very much appreciated.

That's proved that then.
I wasn't aware that an aftermarket module could tell the JCB that a trailer was plugged in.
Be good if it does, as the aftermarket modules are cheaper than the LR item.

It may not need it, customer service rep at bearmach said to ring landrover and check.
For normal lighting, the modules don't need anything other than installation.

For the enhanced towing functions I suspect that only the LR module can communicate with the CJB, but if you're not bothered about the enhanced functions, it's not going to be an issue.
