To Boldly Go

Hello all,

The Eco Stop/Start and CD Eject buttons are pushed into the centre console in my Freelander 2, suggesting some heavy-handed use from the previous owner(?) As a result, I need to remove the centre console trim and was wondering if someone can please guide me with the correct procedure? I can't find anything pertaining to this year of Freelander.

I am assuming that the top centre speaker grill needs to be prised off as a starting point(?), but would also like to find out if the hard plastic panel under the audio display is also removable ...or is it simply part of the console moulding? Pre 2013 had a rubber 'mat' under the display which simply had to be lifted off to reveal extra console screws.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I expect it'll pull off, like lots of dash trims these days. I've not played with one that late, but the early trim was simply clipped into place with spring clips.

I’m also interested if anyone knows whether that hard piece of plastic is removable. I’d like to find the best place to install a portable screen for CarPlay, and was hoping this would remove to reveal a space for a screen stand.
