Just done an exaggerated attempt but still nothing. I'll probably borrow a fault code reader and see what it's throwing up. The AA guy already did that but I haven't got his report yet.

I've just received the AA list of fault codes on it:

SYSTEM: ENG CTRL - 3F6/MEDEN SHORT L6
STATUS: P0340 - CAMSHAFT POSN SENSOR (BANK 1) (A)
ERROR MESSAGE: MALFUNCTION FAULT PENDING

STATUS: P0365 - CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (BANK 1) (B)
ERROR MESSAGE: MALFUNCTION FAULT PENDING

STATUS: U0129 - COMM WITH RUNNING GEAR / BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM
ERROR MESSAGE: MALFUNCTION HISTORICAL FAULT

STATUS: P0691 - COOLING BLOWER 1: CONTROL CIRCUIT
ERROR MESSAGE: MALFUNCTION ERROR SPORADIC

STATUS: P0480 - COOLING BLOWER 1: CONTROL CIRCUIT
ERROR MESSAGE: MALFUNCTION ERROR SPORADIC

STATUS: P0481 - COOLING BLOWER 2 CONTROL CIRCUIT
ERROR MESSAGE: MALFUNCTION HISTRORICAL FAULT

Does this lot mean anything to you guys? I'm guessing the cooling fault is irrelevant to the non-starting fault.

I can see 3 relevant codes. There was a issue with the brake control module, this could well prevent it starting, although it's showing as historic. The other 2 codes point to the cam position sensor, which would stop it from starting, maybe even cranking over, if the ECM is programmed to cancel the crank command if there's a sensor fault.

The cam position sensor will prevent the engine from starting, often once hot.
It seems there's an error with communication to the ABS module, which will put the 3 warning lights on.
The coolant fan could be the module at fault, or a corroded connection, or even a failed fusible link. It's on the radiator, close to the battery.
