I realise this is an old post, but just to be helpful to others who may land here looking for a replacement key. As of 21/09/2019 just rung my local Land Rover dealer who as usual were very very heplful in the parts dept, a good set of guys. Key fobs can only be sold through the workshop, cut and programmed to your Freelander 2.

Sit down to read the next item, at a cost of -------- £358. Wow.

Easy enough job to replace the soldered battery within the keyfobs, just need a solder sucker to get the old battery off the board.

I must report that the key fob that I had from Jonathon failed after 12-14 months the battery that was replaced was poor, no new micro switches were used as I thought, I tested the original battery and its case it came in and it read 2.9v a new battery is only 3v

Jonathon was contacted and was willing to look at it for me but after I opened the key fob and saw the workmanship I declined, I have since purchased a key fob from here below.

This was sent off to a great chap & a genuine gent from the R40 forums, whom de-soldered my original chip of my original fob and re-soldered it into the fob I purchased above, fob works great, so lesson learnt for me.

There is someone on the Freel2 forum site that refurbishes FL2 keys, there are a number of users who have used his services with good results all noted in the thread.

(I hope I do not upset too many by pointing to a different forum)
Adam Wormleighton.
Genuine guy, and still sorts out the fobs, the later FL2 fobs are much easier to change the battery.
Steer clear of the Jonathon character above it's a bodge job.
