Having an ongoing battle with LR over vibrations felt throughout the whole car around 2500 RPM between 50-80mph.

As the car is brand new we feel that we should not accept this as it is obviously not right and are battling to return the car to the dealer.

We're not having much luck! We are fobbed off with excuse after excuse but no solution to the problem.

is there anyone else out there with a new Freelander 2 experiencing these problems!

I know there must be a problem with them as the 3 courtsey Freelanders I have had (all the same age as mine) do exactly the same.

thanks have looked on that site but can't find anything relating to the problems i have.

have had an independent road test carried out which came back saying that the problem is unacceptable and a suggestion of what it might be. Car booked in with LR soon to be looked at again. I'm going down there armed with my letter from the independent road test.

There must be others out there with new freelanders doing this! I just need to find someone!!! I know all the new courtsey cars i have had do the same.

I will never ever buy another car from Land Rover again.

I don't have that issue on my 59 reg FL2, I just have a complaint about the crappy fuel consumption. Mine is a manual, I don't have the air-con on with the climate control & I drive it gently for less than 27MPG on the average fuel reading which is never reset so should be a good representation of the economy.

oh. its a brand new freelander 2 built since 2007....say no more.dont expect a recall, just cause prius did.....not gonna happen

I have an auto and fuel consumption isn't bad. one of the courtsey cars i had was manual and i couldn't believe how much fuel it got through in such a short space of time!

It's going in on Tuesday to be looked at & I don't want it back till it is improved - if it don't get improved = buy a box of matches lol.

Stange one - its not very often that an auto gets better mpg than a manual

mpg will improve after a few thousand miles, does mpg calculated on fuel fill ups check out the same as vehicle computer, i doubt it.

Hello
Know it's a year since you had your problem, but I am now experiencing the same problem. Did you get a solution?

My freelander 2 does around 44mpg on a run, 38 around town ,short journeys. I have fitted a tuning module that inproved fuel consumption by 20%, power by 20% and torque by 15%. (2007 2.2) smoother engine. I can give you details if interested. Unit fitted by me in 15mins.

Did you find the problem? I have the EXACT same issue.
2010 Model Freelander 2 XS Manual
If I drive up a slight incline (or greater) with decent positive acceleration it starts from between 2000 to 2500rpm and last 300 to 600rpm.
In any gear from 4th to 6th. (Occasionally happens in 3rd if under load).
(Typically you are driving at 50 to 80mph at these rpm in these gears).

It happens to me every single day without fail except the day I took it in to Landrover to have it diagnosed. I could not believe it. Did a drive with the mechanic for 20/30 minutes and not a thing happened no matter what I did!

I left the car with them for the rest of the day and they took it for another test drive with some limited success for a few seconds. Better than nothing.
They think its a diff bearing. I have an appointment to get that changed - if that is really the problem.
On the way home it started again. Typical! - Its been happening since the car was newish.. maybe a few months after I got it.

I have noticed another issue. When this vibration is happening - have you kept an eye on the rev counter? Do your revs go up and down (mine is manual).
Example. In 5th gear - foot flat - slight long uphill - 2000 rpm. The revs go fro 2050 to 2100 and back down to 2000 but only when this vibration is happening. Its almost like the clutch is slipping but the clutch seems perfect otherwise. Or is it just me?

Air con and climet control both take fuel hope this helps

Vibration is a bit of a known issue with FR2's and there have been a few that have finally ended up with replacements. You need to keep plugging away as they should drive very nicley ! Does your actually send a vibration through the pedals that make your feet tingle ?
I have a real Lemon FR2, bad bad bad welcome to the world of L/R
