I am wondering. I have 2 remotes for my freelander 2 on a 57 plate. 1 opens the doors. The other only opens the doors sometimes. Can anyone sujest a solution to this. Either somewhere we're I can get the battery changed or a replacement. Cheers Howlinmad

I think they charge on the car - so perhaps by using that one for a bit may perk it up a bit

It's well documented that the lithium battery fails in time. The battery also breaks its solder connections, giving intermittent operation.

There a chap on the Freel2 forum who is refurbishing the fobs with new batteries and casings. I think it's about £45 to have it done. He some good reviews.
I'll be rebuilding my own at some point, but if I couldn't, I'd be sending mine to him instead.

yep slowly squeeze it in a vice along the seem while rotating to open it and save the casing. if the battery has discontented, solder her up and away you go - working intermittently it sounds like that's all it is.
I did buy a new case and battery but never used them. the case came closed with the battery inside and i broke the fragile tab trying to open it!!!

couple of other things to note - the key will only charge with buttons up, and on my older spare key the rubber has swollen a bit which makes it harder to eject.

I recently used company called (the master locksmith) on ebay charged me 32pounds returned fixed within 3days

Easy enough to replace yourself, batteries are a few quid. All you need do is separate the fob in half, use a solder sucker to remove the battery solder, gently prize the battery out. Use a soldering iron and solder to replace it. Job done
