Hi all I can’t find problem with my Freelander 2.5 v6 (automatic gearbox) , sometimes my reverse gear disappears.
When engine is cold works good, but when is warm and I drive some 30 km reverse disappears. When I drive in tiptronic mode and I shift reversegear back but is not strong. When engine is cold is back again also.
All forward gears are working properly. All the time.

First check level from ATF oil using the level plug with the car running with autobox temp at 35~45ºC.

I was having problems in the upshift from the 3rd to the 4th the engine revs and gear did not enter. After changed the N89 solenoid (Shift B), the problem was solved.

Oil change might be the way to go

What year is your Freelander?

I'd be checking fluid level first, or simply change it. Is the dash indicator showing R even if reverse doesn't engage?

Probably I have some leakageI checked electronics, lokks good, as they feel burned oil, as if dropped on collector. This is not the smell of the engine oil.

I will give the car to the service, see what it is.
