At the age of 70 we have just bought a Freelander in readiness for the coming winter. Just a couple of questions if any one can help us out please.

Under the boot floor there is only a large empty polystyrene box, no puncture outfit, spare wheel, jack or wheel-brace. What should be in there please.

The wireless seems to have lost some of its bits, the Digital and AM button select stations, but have no sound at all. While the AM button works fine, is this a fault on older FL2's and will it require a new/second hand wireless.

We have looked through the service book, but cannot find any mention of a cam belt or water pump been replaced. At 117000 and 11 years old I imagine replacements are well due, unless the cam is chain driven.

Any help concerning the above will be very much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Cam belt and water pump are due at 150k or 10 years. I expect it’s due the 10 year service which is a big one but if you are keeping it worth doing. Mine had sketchy service history so I had the lot done for peace of mind.
Under the boot should be the spare wheel, jack, wheel brace, a fuse box and the sub for the CD player.
I got a spare alloy wheel off eBay that fits in fine and avoids restricted speed with the spare on.
Don’t know about the radio but the standard one with 6 cd changer sounds great and works with the hands free.

Thank you for the reply and the kind offer of the wheel. Just a couple of points, I am on 235 60 18 wheels, does your old wheel cover this size, and where are you approximately, I am S35 outside Sheffield.
