Hi all. As well as doing my discovery, clutch and some welding.. I have bought what i was hoping to be a bit of a bargain.. (guess not).

Here goes.. I paid £550 for a V plate freelander 2.0 di. Some electrical faults windows lights etc which i have sorted. However i bought it as a non runner as the lad i bought it from couldn't start it after leaving it 9 months on return from Iraq.. After lookin round and a few tests the glow plugs are to blame, undoing the easiest one 1st to cut a long story short, the inside of the glow plugs come out leaving the outer casing in the head. :censored:

My idea is to buy a tap kit to put a left hand thread in it to take out the casing if you get me?? Please help or give me some advise. Will my idea of tightening a bolt in with a left hand thread work or is the head gonna have to come off?

The previous owner must have sprayed more easy start in her than a space ship uses rocket fuel as ya can smell it when i turned the engine over and even in the engine bay.. Please leave me your thoughts and some advise.

some specialists may be able to get it out other than that its a head off job being a v plate i take its a td4 lump or is it L series?

It's the L series.. Stupid what it involves takin glow plugs out... Thinking of tryin a tap set b4 takin head off. Think they must be the original plugs..

the mrs has a L series in her car, glowplugs work ok considering theres only 3 of them(i snapped 1) good lump though very reliable and starts on the button

Im hoping its the glow plugs anyhoo. Gonna change the 3 i can sort of get to then see what happens. Providing i can sort the broken one. It looks a descent motor apart from the starting problem.
