Hi live in Barbados Love Land Rover Love mechanics Have Land Rover Freelander Having a little issue turn on ignition no check light crank but no start anyone have any idea when you turn on ignition you have no check light

At a guess, without knowing if its an FL1 or FL2, petrol or diesel, im guesing its a camshaft sensor thats gone. Essentially the ecu doesnt know the timing so doesnt know when to add fuel at start up. Usually the ecu uses canshaft sensor for start up, then cranksgaft sensor for running it.

Hi Good morning is a Freelander Td4Diesel cheque light late is the service light when you turn the ignition on you supposed to get it serviced light

Thanks for clarifying that, as you will know there are a few items on cars that on your side of the atlantic are called different things from what we brits call them, like wing / fender for example, and in this case we thought the check light was the engine management light. I know you said its a TD4, but what year of freelander is it, and is it a freeelander 1 or freelander 2? Reason I ask is the TD4 name was used as the name for a 2.0 litre diesel engine sourced from BMW in the freelander 1, and also for a 2.2 ford sourced turbo diesel in the freelander 2.

It it just the check light, or do none of the warning lights turn on with the ignition?

Hey good night yes you re right chat light is it engine management light yes is a Freelander 1 td4

None of the warning light turns on with ignition

Hi there, if your check engine light or eml isn’t coming on but other warning lamps are then I suggest you check all the ecu related fuses.

If no warning lights are coming on at all on the dash then I would say you should check the battery first, maybe flat.

If it’s cranking then check fuses as the instrument panel fuse may have gone.

Cheers

oh ok so anyone have any idea
When you turn the key, the radio should come on with the first position. The second position should put on a about 8 warning lights, most of which will go out after a few seconds. If you're not getting all these lights come on, and other ignition controlled items like the indicators don't work, the I'd say the ignition switch is faulty, which does happen occasionally.
