I have an s reg freelander 1, 1.8 petrol the car started to struggle to change gear. I replaced slave and master cylinders it then wouldn't change gear but with old one on it went back to normal. I then thought dodgy part so brought another exact same thing but this time replaced bracket same again. So I thought must be clutch so replaced clutch, the bearing was worn a fair bit but clutch looked fine however car will now not change gear
I am hoping it's not more expence can anyone help

Yes they are fine also clutch release arm is fine, the gear box was off and visually looked ok
Also when pressing down on the clutch peddle there appears to be very little pressure

So, general rule =

Gears locked out when engine running, but okay when not = clutch related
Gears locked out whether engine is running or not = synchros shot

Sounds like your clutch is still dragging for some reason.

If you put it in first (then fifth) gear, put your foot down to the floor on the clutch and get someone to push the car with the handbrake off, will it move?
If it moves in fifth but not first, your clutch is partially disengaging - find out how much by putting it in first with the engine off then start the engine with your foot on the clutch. If it starts to roll forwards you've got quite the drag going on.

How did the release fork look when you took it out? Did it engage with the other side of the gearbox properly?

Very little pressure on the pedal could be air in the system which is unfortunate, get someone to push the clutch pedal down and tell us how much the release lever is moving.

Can you get someone to pump the clutch while you watch whats happening? There might be excessive flexing of the bracket.
I had a similar issue developing so replaced the slave mounting bracket (ensuring it was pushed over to the left before tightening the bolts) as it was rusty. I also squirted lots of WD40 around the release arm as they are renouned for sticking.
Seemed to work as clutch feels better now.

Will try that tomorrow when I get the help
The bracket has been replaced as old one had a small crack and bent slightly it feels as if the cylinder isn't in right but it is. the release arm is fine checked that as knew that could of been a problem.

The mechanisim for holding the slave in the bracket is a joke, I tried mine every which way but ended up putting a cable tie around it. Do you still have the funny plastic thing with two tabs hanging loose over the end of the slave piston?
I've heard bad comments about cheapo brackets being worse than the original
