some of the petrol XJs are ULEZ compliant (even Euro 4 for Birmingham etc as well), but, have horrible VED (road tax) rates. The super charged ones are quite sought after, but an X350 3.5L V8 for example, not so much. How do VED rates work with EV conversions?

If the car was first registered before March 2001 it is free (currently). After 2001 it doesn't change, I pay standard road tax for my car. This is due to an interpretation by the DVLA where two rules conflict, i.e Cars built after March 2001 cannot have their tax designation changed and Electric cars are tax exempt. Guess which they decided was the one they liked better?
