Hi all, I have an 06 plate Freelander 1 TDV 4. 107K on the clock. Recently I have had trouble with bad starting / clouds of diesel smoke. I had a set of injectors off a previously deceased FL which I got overhauled. Once they were installed the running and starting got far better, no more smoke! Another issue has now turned up, the engine seems to hit a brick wall at 3K RPM, the engine light also comes on. The harder the acceleration the sooner the light comes on and no power. Would I be right to suspect the high pressure fuel pump is failing to deliver the goods when asked? Common rail pressure sensor and loom was replaced last year.

Adrian.

I reply to my own post! It got worse and more research on this site gave me the answer. It was the electric fuel pump that was failing. Genuine OEM one got hold of for £137, jobs a good one
