hi can anyone offer me any advice please, had my freelander 1 td4 52 plate nearly 2 years no real problems, until last week when alarm kept going off all hours of the night, had to disconnect battery, because my locks dont work with the key ( no resistance on drivers door and boot) i have had new bonnet switch, new battery, sealed the skylight with silicone, checked all doors and seals, wiggled electrical cables on doors, took roof lining out and wiped the card checked cables, i have to leave one door on the car unlocked i have tried several local garages but nothing comes up on there obd readers. any advice please, or best place to get new door keylocks. many thanks

First off, obd readers will not report alarm faults. Need a Freelander specific reader like PScan or the like.

Second, tailgate key will give no resistance as it only operates a window raise switch not a lock.

Get a proper LR code read and find out if itnis proximity or door faults then we can go from there.

ok cheers for that, didnt realise about tailgate, i will have to try landrover in norwich many thanks

couldn't quite understand the lock issue , so this may or not, be relevant ..
.
when locking with the key .. not the fob .. the internal cab alarm movement sensor is 'off'
i.e. locking with the fob, a small flying insect in the interior, can easily set the alarm off.
.

Dont know if this will help or not but I just bought a 2005 Td4 and the same was happening to me and couldn't find out why, did the usual checks on all doors, bonnet etc and tried using the key only to disable the interior sensor and still happening.

While doing some some other work I realised that the battery connectors where not seated correctly and the positive connector was only half on. There was some crud around the connectors, so cleaned everything, made sure the connectors where well seated right down and tightened correctly and the alarm hasn't went off since!

the key issue was that i was hoping to lock car manually, as i was told it would not engage the alarm

yes i tried that and i bought a new battery and they put it in, hoping that would sort it out, 2 hours later bloody alarm went off again, i then checked all terminals again. i thought that the key would disable the alarm. cheers for the advice

Sorry I couldn't help. Yeah locking with the key only disables the interior sensor. Can the alarm not be disabled/removed until you can figure it out?

i wish it could, the last place i took it to were very thorough and helpful and said you cannot disarm it because it is connected to the ecu, i have got to get a bank loan and go to landrover workshop, or keep car unlocked

What happens if you lock it with the drivers door open using the fob and then shut the door afterwards....read somewhere that can disable the internal sensor ?

My rear door sometimes triggers the alarm it just registers as closed but will move to show it is open and triggers the alarm, try not shutting the rear door completely, then locked the doors, doors will lock and the horn will sound once, if the alarm then does not go off you know where to start looking

I had this issue on my old F1, Water was dripping down the inside of the rear windows and collecting in the spare wheel well. Then the alarm kept going off all night because on wet days the water was creeping along the head lining and shorting the rear passenger interior light and setting the alarm off. It turned out to be the guttering that the rear window sits in. It was cracked inside. I cleaned it out wacked a load of silicon in there and the problem stopped when it dried out.

have tried that when i washed the car, on purpose i was spraying all round windows to see if any water was coming through or down, with the rear window i then left door open and water came out through bottom of the door, it was in the heatwave that when it first started and no sign of rain then. thanks for your help cheers

tried it yesterday, and yes it worked or at least the alarm did not go off last night, but you have to be quick ,because as soon as you press the fob and get the drivers door shut the alarm goes off. (at least i dont have to take my camera and other items out of the car every night now.) many thanks for advice cheers
