Good evening all,

I’ve been working through a few faults and issues with my L series freelander and finally made it to the injectors.
I managed to remove, clean, check and refit numbers 2, 3 and 4 injectors with zero issues.
Number 1 though has been a complete pain in the arse.
I managed to get it moving this evening. The injector would only turn. Which I thought was ok. Until it came out. And only the injector body appeared. It would seem the head is stuck solid in the engine.

I have managed to remove spring, shaft and two spacers with a magnet and some wire. The rest is stuck solid though.

It is possible to thread the body back into the bore and into the cap.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove the cap and injector head?

My only thoughts are a bump/slide hammer on the end of the injector body where the fuel line attaches.

cheers,
Ian.

As you mentioned. A slide hammer is often needed to remove stuck injectors. You'll need to screw the body back onto the nozzle first though.

Hi Nodge,

Thanks for the reply. I thought as much. Fortunately, injectors aren’t that dear to replace if I end up wrecking it during removal.

I’ll buy a slide hammer and have a go when it turns up.

there are slide hammers specifically for injectors might save another headache of a breakage...
