Just browsing some stuff and thought - how would I know if all the necessary recalls have been done to my Hippo.

That's very easy to do.

Register on TOPIx. Its free.

Search for your chassis / VIN number - you will get details of your specific vehicle, when it was made, when it was first registered, etc. and if there are any outstanding recalls that may not have been attended to.

It was while I was looking at Topix from the link on another post I saw the recall stuff - but does it actually record my specific car? I can see that stuff needs doing but how do I know mine had or has not been done - will Topix show this. I would have aloof but I am not on a pc at the moment and it's a pain to navigate on an iPhone ;-)

When I try to connect to topix.uk I get the "server not found" message back.

angeloc: Yes the info is specific to your vehicle if you register and then search your VIN number.

willo: You're right topix.uk does not exist.

Here is a new link:

TOPIx - TOPIx

Thanks for the link, I've tried this in the past as they recognised (on the Belgian department) my mailaddress. I forgot the login name and password I then must have used so sent a mail back asking for clarification....:eek::eek:

This new authentication only valid for one hour, was too late. have to introduce a new request if I want to longin. I'll better forget about it for now.

If see your vehicle hasnt had something done from a recall, whats the proceedure? Do they cost anything to sort?

Sorry to but into this thread, but (no pun intended!), am I correct in assuming the following means no outstanding recalls for my car?

"Outstanding Campaigns: There are currently no outstanding Campaigns for this vehicle"

As far as I was led to believe yes it's for your specific vehicle. At least that's how it was explained to me at a LR dealer.

They said they used it themselves if a 'strange' vehicle arrived for the first time as these recalls or campaigns as LR calls them are sometimes not recorded in the Service Book or the book is not in the car.

The same dealer did something or another to my first FL back in 2003 and they recorded zilch in the Service Book.

The whole system is a crock of **** if it isn't for your own vehicle. :(

Fatbloke:

Has your VIN come up with something that needs checking?

If so that would prove the worth of the system.

Not checked yet, just thinking ahead

I've sent an email to TOPIx to clarify this, whether it is our specific vehicles or just that model of LandRover.

Will post the answer when I get it.

Don't hold your breath!

OH my gawd!

LandRover TOPIx responded to my email in 6 - yes six - minutes.

They asked for the full VIN of my FL and said they would check it out individually for me.

This a global service - someone is on-line to take questions 24/24.

I am speechless at the speed of reply - Faster than a fast thing moving fast!

Lets see what they dig up from my VIN.

Right then, here is the answer I got back from TOPIx.

This time it took 9 minutes for the answer to get back to me.

Hello Singvogel

We have checked and can't see any outstanding recalls for your vehicle.

On TOPIx it should only show you relevant information for the VIN range if that's how you searched. If you searched by selecting the model and year you would then get a lot more options and documents but certain documents would only relate to certain VIN's.
Kind regards,

Adam Lester

Looks like if you put in your own single VIN in full, then the answer displayed re campaigns, IS for your own vehicle, if I understand this reply correctly.

If you were to put in a whole range of numbers then you would get lots of stuff - I think.

Anyhow, if anyone is really concerned that they may have missed out on any safety or other recalls etc. then this is the way to go.

I guess that if you were to phone/contact a LR dealer this is the resource they would contact too.

Result. :D:D

Hoo-ah!

Topix will pick up individual recalls for your specific VIN, although the correct way to check it would be using DDW at a LR Dealer.

Topix is pretty accurate, but its not as accurate as DDW, so i would trust what it says, but if ddw and topix dont match. It trust DDW.

Excuse my ignorance - What does DDW stand for?

I agree a dealer could do this check for anyone of course.

However I was pretty impressed that I could do this at half-past eleven at night.

The TOPIx call-centre really does seem to be on the ball. :)

I registered and also put in my VIN number and it did not come up with any outstanding recalls - however I then sent an email to Topix with my VIN and got a quick reply back saying to get the detail I would have to register and then subscribe to bulletins - this costs.

So the free bit says nothing except the info about my vehicle - stuff from the V5 really.

Has anyone done the basic register and got more detail regards recalls?
