Hello.that's an intro an half right there.I've had to sell my 'proper' land rover due to having a bad back and not having enough strength in my legs to fully operate the clutch,so I got myself a freelander,and I love it. Good offroad, just need to drive it differently.anyway my question is,does anyone know of a good snorkel I can put on it?I've seen some horrendous examples,but nothing like the tubular type seen on most defenders,and haven't seen any at all on a td4, can any one shed some light?any advice would be greatly received thanks
 
The only snorkels I've seen are for the V6 - nothing at all for the TD4.

Saying that, I've seen something on tinterweb that shows a TD4 with a snorkel that was made in Spain. Don't have any other details or whether they're still being made.
 
I'm in Bedfordshire...wheels sound nice.

Just waiting for mine to be delivered and then to get the AT2 on them :D

Hello beadyweirdy. . . . . .if your thinking of wading in your gaylander be aware thet the ems box is not water proof and if wet can give problems also gearbox breather needs an extension :) :) :) just a thought

That said though, the Hippo doesnt leak as much as Disco et al and so will have a tendency to float if you go too deep!!!

the td4 rear eggsauce big bit at the back is a reet pain,keep meaning to change mine [mod it] but lookin at it now [its nearly flat] no need :D :) ;)
 
D.A.P seem to do some good under body protection,rock sliders, rear box protector and so on,but they are really expensive.are there any alternatives or is it a case of getting what you pay for?also is it possible to lift it by more than 2" ? I've found a few companys who can do spacers up to 3"same design as the standard aluminium.is it possible to do both a 2" lift and a 1.5" spring lift or will this put too much pressure on the drive train, gears, suspension et al? I've some idea of what I want but I don't want to ruin my freebie in the process
 
Skynet I saw the g4 at the Peterborough show last year, I want mine higher, also the sills didn't look too protected.it looked like aluminium checkerplate, I'd prefer some rock sliders for the 3-5 days I might manage to get offroad this year.
 
I think you will find that if you lift it more than 2inch you will have drive shaft issues, as you lift the vehicle you are also lifting the engine & gearbox but leaving the hubs in the same place, so increasing the angle! Anymore than 2inch you also need extended brake hoses & you need to modify the hole in the inner wing where the track rod comes out otherwise it catches !
 
Thanks for the info,so a 2"lift it is then.what's the largest tyre size I can go to once it's lifted?I'm running 215/65/16 at's at the mo

I've heard it's 205/80/16. without spacers.
