is this my maf on my td4 freelander 1 hse 2006 my old car it was oval shaped and all the ones I seen are oval shaped but the only one I can find is round shaped is this it.

No, the MAF is at the back left of the engine next to the air filter and above the turbo

ok I will look for it it must have been 15 years ago I did it on my old freelander but this one seems a bit different thanks

Found it thanks pardec now I remember climbing on top of the engine to do it but I can not do that now as knees will not bend like that so another job for the son in law or maybe I could test it with a multi meter and see if it is ok befor swaping

I am sure it is only a diode when I get it out I will look

It's not a diode. What looks like a glass package diode is in fact a thermistor for temperature measurement.
