TD4, 2001. We have replaced the front brake discs and pads, both front shocks and wishbone on drivers side, anti-roll bar bushes and drop links, shock mounting plates and gaitor for CV joint on drivers side and can't find the source of the rattle. Mechanic friend of mine is stumped. When driving at low speeds over uneven surface it sounds like the drivers wheel is falling off!! Have checked every nut bolt etc and had it on ramps half a dozen times-knocked, banged and levered everything. However, can make the noise when jacking up the front and hitting the wheel on the front of the side. Almost as if it needs a drag link/track rod on the front!! Any help appreciated. Doesn't make noise at high speeds or cornering.

just had the same problem with my l322 , if i rolled down the window it sounded like i was dragging a steel dustbin down the street , it was the the thin dust shield behind the disc on the front wheel , they had vibrated lood and cracked around each bolt that held it in place , i just put some bigger washers on and problem solved
