Hi,
I've recently bought a 2005 freelander with a few issues. the first was that it wouldn't start without the aid of easy start. this has now been fixed after replacing the low pressure fuel pump.
I now have a new issue, a yellow engine management light with an explanation mark inside has come on.
I'm trying to find a post that explains all the dash lights but after several hours searching I've given up and now I'm written this plea for help.
So please if there is a link could you point me in the right direction??

Regards Rob

That is telling you that some part of the emission system isn't working. The most likely cause is the MAF having no signal. I think the MAP can also cause it and likely the a disconnected EGR solonoid valve too.

You need to put a diagnostic scanner on it, it will give a code back saying what the error is. An 05 TD4 is ODBII compatible I believe - so a generic (cheap!) reader will probably give you the code.

I've just bought the hawkeye off ebay for £260 (please don't tell me there's cheaper).
It has had the EGR removed and the MAF sensor has had more than its far share of easy start so both will be a good place to start I think.

OK I won't, and even if you could, they would only cover basic engine codes - wouldn't touch the ABS, SRS, and other fancy things like coding keys etc that the Hawkeye can.

Is there a thread to the owners manual anywhere as id still like to have a read as I know there's other things I need to know??
