Try to avoid curbing the 18" wheels. They are stupidly expensive to replace, even second hand. I clean and polish mine every month to keep them looking like new. Sadly I don't bother with the rest of the car, just the wheels.
Yeah i can totally relate to that i was always guilty of just always using an Automated car wash on my cars but i had a very shiny black car & it always did the trick. Don't think that's an option any longer with the roof bars.

I see you're nr Newquay :D Monkey Tree jetwash is another handy location.

it's the only way my car gets washed, I just take the airel off first

I recently purchased a 04 Freelander TD4 sport premium.

The ad stated impeccable, 85k mileage. Fully stamped up to date service history. New Mot etc etc. Wouldn't budge on the price so surely it couldn't be that terrible.

Got it home (330 miles away) to find a beer can in place of a small 100mm ish hose on the front left of the engine & covered in tin foil with the original hose split down the middle then wrapped around the foil (essentially disguising it)

Not only that but hideous dirty black oil splattered everywhere. Clearly NOT recently serviced at all.

Needless to say I'm mortified. This little thing was my dream car in the sense of what I can actually afford & I waited an age to get it :(

Scrap job? It drives fine engine sounds quiet actually not rattles etc.

Forgive the essay I'm dying inside & apologies again for the wall of text
No one warned me I needed to check for wayward beer cans when buying a Landy! :(

I clean my wheels with auto glym car wash and a big tooth brush with soft bristles. Once a year I take the wheels oft to clean behind their ears as the brake dust builds up and I've seen it attack wheels before. Should really do it more often.

What do you use to clean yours?

Mini update on this. Prop shaft still in place. 4 fairly new matching tyres, although they're Desert Hawks which I've never heard of.
Parts for pipe repair aren't here until tues. Tried Euro Car Parts to avoid waiting but didn't get far.

Also ordered full service kit including fully synth oil & all filters.

After going through the mountain of receipts I see the main owner looked after it well in that he always paid to have the underside waxed and a service.

Trouble is, they only EVER changed either oil and air filter or oil and fuel filter. Never the rest.

Roll on Tuesday.
