I thought the radiators were all the same across the models?

Is it worth using a Td4 cooling pack then everything will fit

They are, and I have a spare rad pack from an old TD4 I broke a few months back.
However, the rad sits 2-3 inches further forward on the 1.8, than the TD4. If I were to move the rad back those 3 inches, the turbo would be pressing into the radiator.

Bumper will be attacked with a grinder tomorrow afternoon. If it all goes wrong, its not the end of the world
Ideally, it needs to be running and MOT'd before Friday, so don't really have the time to wait for a V6 bumper to come up for sale up this way :)
 
Sorry for my misunderstanding.

Guess it's the problem with the exhaust manifold/turbo on the other side compared to a Td4.

Is a td5 one any good as they're larger area but thinner from memory?
 
Mikey had a family emergency to attend to last week (all good now though,I'm pleased to say), so suspect this is on the back-burner for a week or so.
 
Progress has stalled for various reasons, mostly due to our 18 month old daughter falling ill, and being taken into hospital. She is better now, and back home.

And trying to catch up with missing a weeks work...

The engine is in, cooling system plumbed in, and intercooler + pipework 95% sorted.

But the ####er wont start. Not sparking, as its not seeing a crank signal.
The Freelander crank sensor uses an inductive type sensor, bolted into the block, and reads off the back of the flywheel
The R75 uses a Hall Effect sensor, mounted in the gearbox bellhousing, and reads off the outer edge of the DMF (all of which have been ditched to use F/L parts)
Neither are compatible with each other

So, it looks as though an aftermarket ECU going to be needed :(

Not a huge issue in itself, just a bit disappointed.

IMO you should contact Z and F tuning.

Engine enhancements by zandf-tuning for MG Rover enthusiasts

They did a lot of the original MGR ecu coding, and have a good knowledge of the 1.8t, including a remap on stock internals taking it to 200bhp.

IMO they would be able to sort something for you, and when they do, please share the good news!
 
A (reasonably priced) solution has been identified. Just unfortunate timing with delivery etc, but hopefully up and running for early Jan, and on the road, with 200bhp for February :D
